Autism has been around for decades, likley centuries being un-diagnosed, but it has just recently come to light. The first case of autism was reported back in 1908 but it wasnt even described as autism yet. In 2006 We had over 3000 new cases in California alone, This is not a growing disease, it is a genetic disorder. Something that almost surely has been around for many years, affecting many people, some of whom are still going un-diagnosed to this day. I have gathered as much on the time-line and the History of Autism as I found it Relevant. As an introductions to Understanding Autistic Behavior, I felt the history of Autism would be beneficial. Knowing what we know now, and knowing what we did not know then, is amazing. Soon this genetic disorder will be discovered and fixed. Until then the most we can do is stay informed.
